Flow chart of the patient selection process in this study. A total of 11,846 patients with DM admitted to the ICU were initially screened. Among them, 3,791 (32.0%) were excluded due to missing HbA1c or FBG data on their first day of admission. The final analysis included 8,055 patients, who were subsequently categorized into HGI quartiles
